I wanted to include some people that are well-known and some that aren’t. People are surprised by Megyn Kelly’s faith life, Kris Jenner’s faith life, and Kristin Chenoweth’s-the people who are well-known. I prayed, whom do I want to put in? I want to tell people stories, ancient stories in the Bible presented in a new way. How did you select whom to include in the book? I ask questions, and so many people want to know about Jesus. So Albert said, “Why don’t you think about doing a book about that-just conversations?” I try to love people no matter who they are, just like Jesus did, and so you can imagine the unusual friends I have. I made my living being silly quite a bit but I am pretty serious. You end up having pretty dramatic, in-depth conversations about important, profound things. You don’t end up just talking about the weather, especially with people close to you. We all talk about our lives there’s a lot of downtime and waiting time. To love people,” Gifford added. My literary agent, Albert Lee at UTA, was so touched by some of the stories in It’s Never Too Late about the people I’d have conversations with on a movie set or in a recording studio. Gifford explained, “I love you because Jesus loves you, and that’s enough for me.” She then shared a story about Ferguson asking why she “loved him” and Gervais, given that he’s agnostic and Gervais is an atheist. While she noted it’s the first major project she’s done that’s not faith-based, she says it’s “really transformed” her. Gifford is certainly unapologetic in sharing her faith.īut it’s because she truly wants everyone else to share in what she’s experiencing.īefore ending the interview, Gifford teased a new movie she wrote for her two friends, Craig Ferguson and Ricky Gervais. The one who died so we could know love, true love.” Gifford said, “We all have malignancies of our soul… we’re looking for love in all the wrong places, aren’t we? Instead of the very source of love himself. She continued, “I feel like I have the cure for the malignancy of the soul and he has a name - and it’s Jesus and I have to share when I’m given a chance because I don’t want people to not know the freedom they can have in Him.” Recalled that Kelly had asked her how she could be so bold in her faith in the entertainment industry, to which Gifford replied, “If I had the cure for cancer, I knew what it was - would I ever withhold it from anybody, much less somebody who’s suffering from cancer? Never!”
